2024 Retail 90 Prescriptions - Provider Newsletter December 2023

For 2024, many of our Blue Cross^® Blue Shield^® of Arizona (AZ Blue) benefit plans will have a new pharmacy retail benefit that helps reduce costs for maintenance medications. Prescribing for 90 days gives members their best opportunity for reducing costs. This now applies to both retail pharmacy and mail order prescriptions.

90-day vs. 30-day prescriptions

We have negotiated improved discounts for 90-day prescriptions for most of our plans. Compared with the cost of 30-day prescriptions, these discounts will make maintenance medications far more affordable for our members. Please support this new discount by prescribing for 90 days whenever it makes sense to do so. Some limitations apply (e.g., for controlled substances).
