Quick updates and reminders for your teams
Starts July 1: Updated notification/authorization requirements for inpatient admissions
Make sure your admissions team knows about the latest updates for notifications, prior authorization requirements, and transfers to different levels of care.

Did you know? You're in-network for EPO plans!
Your participation in the AZ Blue statewide-national PPO/EPO network means you’re in-network not only for most of our PPO plans—you’re also in network for:

• Many EPO Plans
• BlueCard® (out-of-area) PPO and EPO plans from other Blues
• All Federal Employee Program® (FEP®) plans
• Corporate Health Services (CHS) plans (for self-funded groups with network-rental arrangements)

Updates: Prior auth requirements and obsolete pharmacy codes
We’ll be adding new codes to the prior authorization code list and lookup tool on July 1 and July 15. By August 1, we'll also update the pharmacy code list to remove obsolete codes—learn more about this update and see the list of obsolete drug codes.

Transferring a patient to a post-acute care facility? We're here for you 24/7
Our team of dedicated clinicians responds to urgent needs around the clock. To reach us after hours, call the 24-hour phone line at 602-864-4320. You can also email us at UtilMgmt@azblue.com.

Reminder: PCP referral approvals are not required at this time
For PCP-HMO plans, we’re still waiving the PCP referral approval requirement until further notice. Please continue to make in-network referrals for specialist office visits. We will let you know when approval for such referrals is once again required.
Clinical partnership update

Secure AZBlue portal tips
• Accessing online remits: You can now search remits by Check/EFT #. Also, using a narrow date range (within one calendar year) can optimize your search results.
• Checking eligibility and benefits: A member's ID number can change. Be sure the member ID prefix used in your inquiry is valid for the date of service. Alternatively, you can use the “Name” search option. For more information about our 2023 prefix replacements for certain members, visit the azblue.com/prefix page.
For more information about the June updates, contact your provider liaison or call us at 602-864-4231 or 1-800-232-2345, ext. 4231.
