Want to empower your patients to make lifestyle changes? This course can help.
As we shared in our September newsletter article, we’re partnering with the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) to offer an evidence-based introduction to lifestyle medicine and nutrition to our Blue Cross® Blue Shield® of Arizona (AZ Blue) network providers. You can participate in ACLM’s Essentials course at no charge (5.5 CME/CE hours) with promo code ESS-BCBSAZ.

Dr. Cara Christ, AZ Blue CMO, recently took the course to see how it supports providers to help patients modify lifestyle behaviors to prevent, treat, and even reverse the progression of chronic disease. Here’s how she sums it up:
“I highly recommend taking the Essentials introductory course. It’s a fantastic CME course and the five-and-a-half hours go by really quickly. What I loved about it are the easy-to-understand tips you can start sharing with patients right away.

I also appreciated the guidance in helping patients take small, empowering steps toward getting more exercise and eating healthy. My professional training covered the high-level principles of eating more fruits and vegetables, staying active, and getting enough sleep. It’s easy enough to tell patients those things, but this course helped me understand how to make them actionable.”

More about lifestyle medicine
Lifestyle medicine knowledge and tools equip providers to leverage evidence-based, whole-person, prescriptive lifestyle change to effectively prevent, treat, and, when used intensively, often reverse chronic conditions. Applying these six pillars of lifestyle medicine across an entire practice also builds habits that can lead to better health and prevent disease:
• A whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern
• Physical activity
• Restorative sleep
• Stress management
• Avoidance of risky substances
• Positive social connections
We urge you to join us in driving down chronic disease in Arizona by participating in the complimentary Lifestyle Medicine course! Register now to get started and remember to enter the ESS-BCBSAZ code at checkout.
