Now available: Annual fee schedule updates (effective July 1)

Because CMS made additional fee changes for 2024, we postponed our annual updates that were scheduled to begin April 1. Our revised updates are now complete and will be effective July 1, 2024. You can preview them starting June 1.

Going forward, we will shift our major annual update to the July 1 effective date (rather than April 1). For other routine updates, we will continue with the quarterly schedule: January 1, April 1, and October 1, unless we notify you of a delay.

This article and the online posting of the updates serve as our formal advance notice of these fee schedule changes—as required by our provider participation agreements.

To preview the annual fee updates, (effective July 1, 2024), log in to the AZ Blue Provider Portal and go to “Provider Resources > Guidelines > Claim Pricing.” Select one of the “Fee Updates” links: ASC, Outpatient, Professional, Unclassified Drug, or Per Diem Base Rates.

AZ Blue proprietary fee schedule sources

AZ Blue commercial fee schedules are based on a number of pricing sources that can influence the need for changes. These include updates to Medicare fee schedules, information derived from claims, competitive pricing data, and feedback from AZ Blue network providers. Our fee updates reflect generally applicable market changes, such as CMS code changes, pricing for newly available drugs, fluctuations in prices for listed drugs, other market shifts, correction of over- or undervalued fees, and modifications based on ongoing utilization analysis.
